On Tuesday evening, the first semi-final match of the English League Cup was played between the Manchester clubs.
At "Old Trafford" stadium, "Manchester United" showed their superiority over their neighbors, the "Manchester City" footballers. In the first half, the visitors did not leave any chances to the hosts and secured a victory with a score of 3:1, moving closer to the final.
"Man City" took the initiative from the very first minutes. They didn't have to wait long for the first goal - in the 17th minute, Bernardo Silva's impressive shot from about 20 meters put the visitors ahead.
"Man Utd" could not avoid defensive errors, and in the 33rd minute, they conceded another goal. Riyad Mahrez, after a brilliant pass from B. Silva, sprinted past David De Gea and outsmarted him, increasing the lead to two goals.
The nightmare of the "Red Devils" did not end with that goal - just six minutes later, the score became devastating, as Andreas Pereira redirected the ball into his own net after a fantastic run by Kevin De Bruyne.
In the second half, the "Man Utd" players performed better. Right from the start, they did not allow the "Man City" team to easily control the ball, and they showed more sharpness in attack.
In the 70th minute, Marcus Rashford managed to reduce the deficit, receiving an excellent pass from Mason Greenwood in between the "Man City" defenders.
During the remaining time, neither team scored, but the final result confirmed a secure victory for "Man City".
The second leg match at the "Etihad" fortress will take place on January 29th.
