"Espanyol" unexpectedly sent the visitors from the capital into a tailspin in the last minute of the match - the hosts celebrated a victory with a score of 1-0, and "Real" broke their streak of five consecutive wins.
This victory was special for the "Espanyol" team - they defeated the "Real" team for the first time since 2007. So, the Catalans had to wait for victories against the "whites" for more than ten years, or more precisely - 21 matches.
In the last 20 matches against "Espanyol," "Real" had won 17 times and only played to a draw three times. In turn, the Catalans had only scored in two of these matches.
In the "La Liga" championship, "Espanyol" had suffered nine consecutive defeats against "Real" before yesterday's match.
