Estonians welcoming the Baltic Cup final - with a new coach and saying goodbye to a legend © Estijos futbolo asociacijos

The national teams of Lithuania and Estonia will meet in Kaunas on Tuesday evening for the Baltic Cup trophy.

The match at the Kaunas Darius and Girėnas Stadium will start at 7 PM, you can purchase tickets by clicking here.

Both teams reached the final by winning their semi-final matches - Lithuanians defeated Latvian footballers 2-0 away, while the Estonian team beat the Faroe Islands team 4-1 at home.

Interestingly, the final on Tuesday will be the third match for the Estonians in this international window - apart from the aforementioned Baltic Cup semi-final, they previously played friendly matches with the Swiss team preparing for the European Championship and lost 0-4.

Interestingly, after this match, the Estonians bid farewell to two key team members, without even playing in the Baltic Cup battles - the head coach, who has been at the helm of the team since 2021, Thomas Haberli, has left his post, and his position was taken over by assistant coach Jurgen Henn.

Another farewell - long-time team player and captain Konstantin Vassiljev also parted ways with the national team. He played 158 matches for the national team and scored 26 goals, becoming a true legend of his country's football.

The Estonians have won the Baltic Cup a total of 4 times, the last time being in the 2020 tournament (which was postponed to 2021). Lithuanians, on the other hand, have triumphed in the Baltic Cup 10 times, but the last time was in 2010.
