Euro 2004: Preliminary Composition of the Russian National Team © EuroFootball.com

Russian national team coach Georgy Jarcev has announced the preliminary squad for the upcoming European Championship.

Since the Russians have problems with injuries, Jarcev did not rush to announce the squad and probably would have done it only on the last day, but the Russian media pressed the coach. Therefore, today he decided to announce the 27 players, of which 23 will travel to Portugal.

Currently, captain Viktor Onopko and Dmitry Loskov are injured, but it is expected that they should recover. The team has only three foreign players - Champions League winner Alenitchev playing for "Porto", Mostovoi from the "La Liga" team "Celta", and Smertin from the English mid-table team "Portsmouth".
