Euro 2004 squads: Russia national team © EuroFootball.com

Yesterday the head coach of the Russian national team, Georgy Yartsev, announced the final squad composition. He had to leave out both main central defenders - Viktor Onopko and Sergey Ignashevich. This is definitely a huge loss, as Onopko is also the team captain and one of the most experienced players - he has already played 112 times for the national team. The new captain will likely be Alexei Smertin, who will probably be pushed more towards defense.
