In the old continent, European Championship qualifiers were played on Friday.

Germany secured their third consecutive victory by beating Turkey 3-0 in Berlin.

Miroslav Klose, who plays impressively for the national team, scored goals for the winners in the 42nd and 87th minutes, while Mesut Ozil of Turkish origin added a precise shot in the 79th minute.

Paulo Bento debuted as Portugal's coach with a victory as his team defeated Denmark 3-1.

Interestingly, all four goals were scored by the Portuguese - Nani scored twice initially, followed by an own goal by Ricardo Carvalho, and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the victory.

Italy played an away game drawing 0-0 with Northern Ireland, while Estonia caused a sensation by defeating Serbia 3-1 away.

It was Serbian coach Vladimir Petrovic's debut match.
