On Tuesday, the Old Continent was playing the preliminary matches of the European Championship.
The Netherlands continues their winning streak in Group E, impressively defeating a tough Hungarian team 5-3 at home.
The hosts had to demonstrate the ability to overcome opponents after Hungarians responded to an early goal by Robin van Persie with goals by Gergely Rudolph and Zoltan Gera after halftime.
Wesley Sneijder and veteran Ruud van Nistelrooy regained the advantage for the reigning vice-champions of the planet and, despite Gera equalizing once again, Dirk Kuyt's two goals in the 78th and 81st minutes secured the victory.
After the win, the Dutch lead the group with a nine-point margin over the closest pursuers.
In Group I, besides Spain's victory over Lithuania, the Czech Republic also won, defeating the absolute underdog team of Liechtenstein 2-0, with goals by Milan Baros and Michael Kadlec. Lithuania will play their next two matches with Liechtenstein.
