EUROPE LEAGUE: "Ajax" secured a place in the eighth finals, "Viktoria" crushed Russian dreams

On Tuesday evening at 19:55, the first two of the penultimate round matches were played in the UEFA Champions League.

In group G, Athens AEK and Amsterdam's Ajax clashed. In the second half, the Dutch team, which turned the tide, defeated the hosts and secured a spot in the quarterfinals.

In the first half, Ajax dominated possession, but did not create many real chances. The visitors from Amsterdam had their task made easier in the 68th minute - their opponent received a second yellow card and a penalty was awarded in their favor.

Dusan Tadic successfully converted the penalty, and within four minutes, he scored a second goal, as the hosts made a mistake in clearing the ball.

With 11 points in their group, Ajax moved to the top position and will not drop below second place.

In other matches, Moscow's CSKA lost at home to Plzen's Viktoria and lost all chances to fight for at least the second position.

CSKA took the lead first, but Viktoria, determined to make it to the Europa League, responded to their opponents - they equalized in the 56th minute and scored a winning goal at the end of the match.

Both teams have now collected four points each. Roma and Real Madrid already have nine, so there is intrigue in this group for the first and third positions.
