On Wednesday in Gdansk, the UEFA Europa League final took place, in which the "Villarreal" team triumphed, defeating the "Manchester United" players in a penalty shootout. From the very beginning of the match, the "Red Devils" controlled the game, but the first goal fell into the net of the English team - in the 29th minute Gerard Moreno scored after a standard situation. "Villarreal" held on to their minimal advantage for the rest of the first half and went into halftime with the lead. "Man Utd" equalized soon after the break, when Edinson Cavani scored from a penalty in the 55th minute. The English team continued to control the game, but the second half ended in a draw - 1:1 - and the teams had to play extra time. There were no dangerous opportunities or goals during extra time, so everything was decided by a penalty shootout. In an impressive penalty shootout, both teams successfully converted 10 out of 11 penalties, so the goalkeepers' shots decided the winner. Geronimo Rulli performed better, confidently converting his shot and saving David De Gea's attempt, thus granting the "Villarreal" team not only the trophy, but also a ticket to the UEFA Champions League.
