European Top 5 Leagues Weekend: Most interesting weekend matches (September 15-17)

Today is Friday, which means that another intriguing and promising weekend of the strongest European football leagues is about to start. Eurofootball.com invites you to get acquainted with the schedule of the upcoming weekend's Top 5 European leagues and highlights the most interesting matches of this weekend.

Most interesting weekend matchups:

"Chelsea" - "Arsenal"

September 17 (Sunday) 15:30

On Sunday, fans of the English "Premier" league will witness an intriguing London derby between "Chelsea" and "Arsenal". By the way, these two teams will face each other for the second time this season: in the season opener, Arsenal won the "Community Shield" trophy after a penalty shootout.

The hosts had a surprising setback against "Burnley" at the start of the season, but later returned to the top of the "Premier" league table with three consecutive wins. In addition, they managed to defeat their direct competitor for the top spots - "Tottenham Hotspur", and this victory helped the "Blues" regain confidence in their abilities and start a streak of three wins.

On the other hand, the situation in the Arsenal camp is quite different: the team has only six points after four rounds and is currently in eleventh place. Arsenal not only lost to "Stoke", but also suffered a crushing defeat against "Liverpool", after which the team had a very turbulent period until the closing of the transfer window. Finally, despite all the rumors, the only player to leave the team was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but for the Arsenal team that did not acquire any new signings, it will still be necessary to prove that they can compete for the top spots in the "Premier" league with this squad.

Will Arsene Wenger finally be able to break the streak of failures against the strongest clubs in the "Premier" league? We'll find out on Sunday afternoon.

"Real Sociedad" - "Real Madrid"

September 17 (Sunday) 21:45

On Sunday, an interesting match awaits the viewers in the "La Liga" championship, where the well-started "Real Sociedad" team will face the struggling champions of the league - Madrid's "Real".

Before the season, these teams were imagined in the positions that their Sunday opponents are currently in: "Real" is predicted to fight for the top spots, while "Real Sociedad" was expected to fight for places in international tournaments. However, after three rounds "Real Sociedad" still hasn't lost any points and shares first and second place, while the Madrid team, who have lost four points so far, are currently in seventh place.

The successful start and the highly productive performance of the "Real Sociedad" players awaits them with the toughest challenge of the season, while the players of Madrid's "Real", who have lost points in two consecutive matches, will have a good opportunity to prove that even without Cristiano Ronaldo they are capable of breaking their opponents' winning streak and returning to the fight for the top spots in the "La Liga" championship this season.

"Paris Saint-Germain" - "Lyon"

September 17 (Sunday) 22:00

On Sunday in the French league, we will see a clash between two teams that have always been mentioned among the main contenders for the league medals in recent years. The most serious match of the season so far awaits "Paris Saint-Germain" and "Lyon" clubs.

In the summer, PSG, who made a spectacular transfer window, and their acquired players prove that the money spent was not in vain. Both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have integrated well into their new team, and the Parisian club still enjoys a perfect start to the season, without losing any points yet.

Meanwhile, the start of the season for the "Lyon" team is not as successful as for their opponents. In the first five rounds, they have played to a draw twice (3:3 against "Bordeaux" and 0:0 against "Nantes"), and now they will be able to test their capabilities against the championship favorite. For "Lyon", who sold Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso during the summer, this will be a great opportunity to test their strength and chances to fight for the top spots in this season's "Ligue 1" championship.

Will "Lyon" be able to become the first team to stop the PSG club? We will find out on Sunday evening.
