21 hours 45 minutes Lithuanian time in neighboring Poland the final of the 2017 European Under-21 Championship took place.
In Krakow, the two strongest teams of the tournament - the youth teams of Germany and Spain - clashed. Germany, which sent their youth to the Confederations Cup tournament, discovered another talented generation - the young Germans defeated the favorites of the tournament by a minimal margin and ended the Spanish dominance in this age group.
The young Germans started the match very powerfully and created dangerous opportunities from the first minutes. The Spaniards tried to start a fire at the beginning, but the Germans quickly broke free from the Spanish pressure and dominated the entire remaining first half.
The winning goal came in the 40th minute, when after a high pass from Jeremy Toljan, Berlin's "Hertha" goalkeeper Mitchell Weiser scored a fantastic header.
In the second half, the Spanish footballers had complete control on the field, but the Germans played very disciplined in defense and had several great chances to score on fast counterattacks.
Close to scoring were Saul Niguezas and Dani Ceballos from the Spanish youth team, but their long shots did not find the target - either the opponent's goalkeeper reacted or the ball flew just wide.
Germany triumphs for the second time in history in this age group at the European Championship. Meanwhile, the Spanish have won this tournament four times so far.
