Excuses of L. Suarez: It wasn't a bite

Four months after being banned from football, Uruguayan national team and "Liverpool" club striker Luis Suarez claims he had no intention of biting Italian national team defender Giorgio Chiellini.

FIFA received news of an appeal from the Uruguayan Football Association regarding the decision to ban any football-related activities for L. Suarez for four months.

Meanwhile, in a letter to FIFA dated June 25, the footballer himself wrote: "It did not happen at all as you describe. It was not a bite or an intention to bite."

"Liverpool" club striker claimed that after the contact he fell on G. Chiellini: "After the contact, I lost my balance and fell on my opponent's shoulder."

"At that moment, I hit the player in the face, which caused a slight swelling of the cheek and tooth pain," the 27-year-old Uruguayan confirmed in the letter.

However, a commission of seven people rejected such arguments and described the incident as "intentional, deliberate, and unprovoked," and in addition to the aforementioned four-month disqualification, imposed a fine of £66,000.

In addition, L. Suarez will not be able to represent the Uruguayan national team in nine official matches.
