Experienced Fernando Santos will coach the Portuguese national team

The Portuguese Football Federation officially announced today that Fernando Santos has become the new head coach of the national team.

It is worth reminding that Paulo Bento recently stepped down from his position, as he failed to achieve good results and started the 2016 European Championship qualification with a loss to Albania.

Portugal's F. Santos has previous experience with the national team - he coached Greece from 2010 until last summer, leading them to the World Cup quarterfinals.

The 59-year-old strategist also has experience with clubs. Earlier, he managed teams such as Lisbon's "Benfica", PAOK, "Athens", Lisbon's "Sporting", "Panathinaikos", AEK in Athens, "Porto", "Estrela da Amadora", and "Estoril".

F. Santos was selected as the best coach of the Greek Championship four times.
