Former Colombian national team footballer Faustino Asprilla criticized the brightest star of the country, James Rodriguez, and stated that his negative influence could have been due to his friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo.
In the last 2018 World Cup qualifying match, the Colombian national team lost to Argentina with a score of 0-3. J. Rodriguez couldn't help his team in these matches.
F. Asprilla believes that J. Rodriguez resembles C. Ronaldo, who, according to the former Colombian national team player, behaves poorly with his teammates, showing various reactions after an unsuccessful episode.
"He shows the same gestures of dissatisfaction as Cristiano Ronaldo. James starts to show emotions when someone doesn't make a good pass," Asprilla said.
"At the beginning of the match, he reacted emotionally to Alvaro Balanta's pass. James should pull himself together, as his best performance is expected from him. He should help his team more.
There are many young players in the current Colombian national team who are afraid to say something to James out of respect. In another team, he can do that, but in Colombia, we wouldn't tolerate it," added the former "Newcastle" striker.
