Former Italian national team captain Fabio Cannavaro will now coach the Chinese national football team. In this position, he will replace his fellow countryman Marcello Lippi.
The 2006 World Cup champion will also continue working with the Chinese Super League club "Guangzhou Evergrande."
M. Lippi was forced to leave his position as head coach of the Chinese national team back in January, when the team withdrew from the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup tournament. However, the Italian will continue to work as a consultant for the team.
F. Cannavaro's first test will come on March 22 in a friendly match against the "Thailand" national team.
