Having spent four seasons at "Manchester City", Fabian Delph decided to take a new step in his career this summer - the 29-year-old Englishman acquired Liverpool's "Everton" for around 8.5 million pounds sterling.
F. Delph, who has played in the position of a defender in recent seasons, revealed to "The Daily Mail" that he made the decision to leave Manchester himself, in order to increase his chances of receiving a call-up to the England national team.
"From a personal point of view, I felt that it was time for a change. I could have stayed in Manchester. The club was happy with me. No one told me to leave. I had a fairly important role in the team's rotation.
I spent four great seasons in Manchester. I enjoyed them, but I wanted new challenges and more playing time.
Playing for the England national team is very important to me, so if I play more in the club, I will have better chances of receiving a call-up to the team.
My relationship with Gareth Southgate and the national team players is excellent. We are a very united team," said F. Delph.
