Legendary London's Chelsea guard Frank Lampard believes that his team needs to acquire another striker in the winter so that he could be the assistant to Alvaro Morata.
Unable to find a common language with Diego Costa, strategist Antonio Conte had to pay up to 70 million euros for the former Real Madrid striker, but the aristocrats' attack still does not seem completely assured this season.
Although the 25-year-old Spaniard has scored nine goals in 17 matches with the capital club's jersey, coach Michy Batshuayi does not trust him as his substitute.
"I think they need to strengthen in January," Lampard told BT Sport.
"If we look at Morata, Batshuayi also had moments when he scored goals, but it seems that Conte does not trust him."
"Then they need to allow Hazard in that striker position and change many things. So I think maybe they need a backup striker," Lampard added.
"I think at some point they will need to strengthen the center of the field, but that may happen next year."
"However, it is necessary to strengthen because everyone else does it."
"That's what Manchester City does, that's what Manchester United does, so in order to stay in the fight, you need to continue to strengthen."
In addition to Morata, Chelsea also acquired Antonio Rudiger, Willy Caballero, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater, and Davide Zappacosta last summer.
