After one of the most impressive matches in the history of London's "Chelsea" team in the UEFA Champions League, Frank Lampard struggled to find words.
In the match against Amsterdam's "Ajax," at one point Chelsea was trailing 1:4, but unexpected red cards for the opponents allowed the "Blues" to equalize the score and come very close to the fifth goal.
"I can't explain these matches," Lampard told the "BT Sport" television station in a comment.
"Besides having to do a detailed analysis of the meeting, this is why we are here for such incredible matches. I imagine that people who watched this match were also left speechless.
With all due respect to the "Ajax" team, it was an unbelievable football spectacle.
I don't think I've ever been involved in a similar match. Two own goals were the main story of the first half. During the break, I said that the match would end 3:3 or 4:4. I was not wrong," the Englishman shared his impressions.
However, Lampard added that despite the impressive football show, he was not satisfied with the team's defensive performance: "At moments, we looked very dangerous. I am not happy overall with the entire match. This is the Champions League and we made too many mistakes.
I am most pleased with the spirit shown by the entire stadium. As for the red cards, I can't comment on them because I really didn't see what they were given for."
