Madridthquo;tAtleticoandthquo; player Filipe Luis, also a defender for the Brazilian national team, questioned the credibility of FIFA awards and stated that Lionel Messi should receive the best award every year.
In the recently announced top three players in the world, Messi's name did not appear. The award is being fought for by Luka Modrić, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mohamed Salah.
The absence of Messi surprised many fans, as the Argentine was statically the best in Europe and also won two major titles with "Barcelona" in Spain.
"The award is for the best football player on the planet. In my opinion, that is Messi. He has been that way before," said F. Luis at a press conference.
"When such a player is not even in the top three, you understand that the awards have lost their credibility. It doesn't matter who wins the final or who plays in it, there is no doubt that Leo is still the best," added the Brazilian.
