Madriddo „Atletico“ defender Filipe Luis could have moved to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The French champions were after the 33-year-old footballer, as they wanted to fill the gap in the left defensive side, and ultimately bought Juan Bernat for that position. F. Luis himself revealed that he wanted to at least talk to PSG, but „Atletico“ did not give him that opportunity, and eventually even forgot about him.
"There was a chance for me to move to PSG. I talked to „Atletico“ and asked them to let me go, just like they let Gabi go. The club said it was not the same situation, although our contracts were similar in length.
In my situation, there was a little less time until the transfer window closed, so it would have been difficult to find a replacement for me. When they said they didn't want to let me go and set a price that PSG wouldn't pay, I just accepted it.
But then they said that I tried to force them to sell me, which was a lie. I have a history with „Atletico“ and it saddened me. They tried to tarnish my image at the club", F. Luis confessed.
However, the footballer revealed that this misunderstanding has been resolved.
"I have been with „Atletico“ for eight seasons and I have played more than 300 matches. I won't joke about my history", added the defender.
