For the first time this year, the president of the Madrid "Real" club, Florentino Perez, publicly confirmed rumors about Sergio Ramos' desire to move to China.
Spanish media reported on Monday that people close to S. Ramos informed F. Perez about a lucrative offer from China. F. Perez confirmed these rumors on the "Onda Cero" radio, but also added that the Chinese want to acquire S. Ramos for free, so there is no possibility of reaching a deal.
"Sergio informed me that he received an offer from China, but they cannot acquire him due to the transfer rules there," said F. Perez.
"I told him there is no chance we will let our captain leave for free. This conversation was friendly. It was a fairly normal situation between a player and the club.
Sergio is currently the highest-earning player in the club after Cristiano Ronaldo left. It is true that we distribute wages based on the players' merits and role in the team.
He has not officially asked to leave, but I immediately told him that a deal with China is impossible.
Our relationship with him is great, I love him like my own son. You can ask Rene Ramos (Sergio's agent and brother) and he will say that we have very strong ties.
We do not intend to let him leave. Clubs interested in him must consider the release clause in his contract (800 million euros). There is nothing more to say on this matter," reassured the "Real" president.
F. Perez also admitted in the lengthy interview that the deal for Eden Hazard is practically finalized.
"We have been trying to make Eden a 'Real' player for several years in a row. However, we failed due to his contract situation, but now there is only one year left in his contract.
I want Eden to come to the club and I hope it will happen. He is one of the best on the planet," praised the Belgian with good words from the "Real" manager.
In the interview, F. Perez also spoke about the separation with Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, the mistake of firing Julen Lopetegui, and not having Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in the team at the moment.
