One of the leaders of the team, Frederic Piquionne, may soon be wearing the jersey of multiple French champion - the current leader of "Ligue 1" club has announced that the 28-year-old Frenchman is the first player the team will try to acquire during the winter transfer window.
This season, "Lyon" has been plagued by injuries to the attacking players, so it's no wonder that the team's coach, Gerard Houllier, wants to see another high-level striker in his team.
When asked about his thoughts on the interest shown by a club like "Lyon", the player himself stated that it would be a great honor to represent such a team.
"I am very happy that such a famous club in Europe, like "Lyon", is interested in me," the player said. "Yes, they have many talented players and the competition would be very high, but that doesn't scare me at all."
Piquionne arrived at "Saint-Etienne" in 2004, after his contract with another "Ligue 1" team, "Rennes", ended. This season, the striker has already scored 6 goals in 17 matches played, ranking third in the team in terms of productivity, behind only Ilan and Pascal Feindouno.
