Portugal's national team coach Fernando Santos once again answered mostly journalists' questions about Cristiano Ronaldo at a press conference, but also received questions about the upcoming opponent Poland.
Today at 22:00, the first quarter-final of the European Championship will take place, where Portugal will face Poland. In the round of 16, F. Santos' players unexpectedly eliminated one of the favorites of the tournament, Croatia.
The strategist says that all his team's players are in great shape, but the match against Poland will be difficult and the chances of both national teams are equal.
"Everyone talks about Cristiano, because he is a wonderful player. In France, there are 100 other great players, but it is normal to want to talk about Ronaldo, Lewandowski or the same Neuer," said F. Santos.
"However, regardless of how it is, we have 23 players in the team and I am happy with all of them. They are all motivated, true professionals, and know what to do. Talent is very important at this stage, but teams win tournaments. I trust my players," added the coach.
F. Santos saw the performance of the Polish national team in the group stage and said that this team is capable of winning: "The Polish national team is very good. We could see that in the group stage. The goals of both teams are the same - to reach the semi-finals. I hope that we will go further, and my colleague will do the same with his team. There is no favorite here and the chances of both teams are 50-50."
