F. Thauvin's show led "Marseille" to victory, "Bordeaux" followed, "Lyon" fell behind

Although the clash between "Bastia" and "Lyon" was postponed today, two more matches are scheduled to be played in the French championship without it.

Under Bruno Genesio's guidance, the "Bordeaux" club, currently occupying the fifth place in the tournament table, edged out "Nantes" with a minimal result in the away match.

Thanks to the only goal scored by Younousse Sankhare, Jocelyno Gourvennec's team is now only two points behind "Lyon".

However, in the fight for a spot in the UEFA Europa League, "Marseille" continues to climb up behind Bordeaux, defeating their table neighbor "Saint-Etienne" right away.

The striker Florian Thauvin wreaked havoc among the winners. This Frenchman led the seaside city's footballers into the lead in the middle of the first half after a pass from Morgane Sanson, then assisted Bafetimbi Gomis accurately, and in the second half, he scored a compelling turning goal. Dimitri Payet finished the job towards the end of the match.

So, "Marseille" is only a few points away from the fifth position, while "Saint-Etienne's" hopes of playing in Europe are fading.
