Due to criticism from football fans, an Azerbaijani journalist attacked has died, BBC reported.
31-year-old Rasim Aliyev wrote on the social network "Facebook" that Javid Huseynov should be disqualified from European tournaments for showing an indecent gesture to Cypriot journalists. The journalist was lured into a meeting and beaten. According to local press, this was done by individuals related to J. Huseynov.
R. Aliyev later died from internal bleeding. Working for the news portal Ann.az, R. Aliyev stated that J. Huseynov's behavior, who is also a member of the Azerbaijani national team, was "immoral and immature". J. Huseynov showed indecent gestures to Cypriot journalists during the Europa League match between the teams "FK Qabala" and "Apollon".
Concern over the incident was expressed by the country's President Ilham Aliyev. The "Gabala" club suspended J. Huseynov pending an investigation.
