Today in Kaunas, the last match of the Lithuanian "A League" championship first round took place. Last year's "A League" champion met this year's league debutant "Šilutė".
There were no surprises. After leading 1-0 in the first half, the leader could not withstand the pressure of "Kaunas" in the second half and lost 2-1.
At the beginning of the first half, the initiative was taken by the guests of the field. This was reflected in the result. In the 8th minute after Oleg Mozgovyy's shot, they were already in the lead 1-0. Then Kaunas football players started to dominate on the field. However, they failed to equalize the score before the break.
Nevertheless, in the second half, "Kaunas" club managed to equalize and then overturn the score in their favor. In the 71st minute, after the "Šilutė" coach replaced S.Česnulis, the defense of "Šilutė" team started to crumble. The first goal to "Šilutė" club's goal in these matches fell quickly. In the 80th minute, Kaunas completely overwhelmed the Šilutė goal and scored the second goal. In extra time, the player who came into the field after the substitution scored.
"Kaunas" won the first victory in the championship, tying points with the previous winners "Ekranas" and "Atlantas".
