F.Cannavaro: Italians need to learn from China's example © JumpStory

In the past, the well-known Italian footballer, now coaching Guangzhou "Evergrande" team, Fabio Cannavaro, believes that his compatriots must reconcile with sacrificing everyday habits in order to curb the coronavirus. According to the strategist, Italians cannot repeat the mistakes of the Chinese and must learn from their example. F. Cannavaro spoke to the publication "La Gazzetta dello Sport" from his home in China, where he returned for a while to the country of the disease's origin. "I was tested, my temperature was measured, then I had to fill out a form where I had to list the countries I visited in the last few months, as well as answer if I had contact with infected people. If a person arrives in China from countries with confirmed cases of the coronavirus, they are quarantined for two weeks - either at home or in a specially adapted hotel," clarified F. Cannavaro. Currently, the Chinese have managed to contain the virus, which is a positive sign for the whole world. "The disease can be stopped, but it needs to be dealt with strictly and very organized. It was not easy to fight such a monster, as there were no similar cases before. Italians are starting to understand this and most of them are on the right track. Of course, not everyone. For example, my father does not intend to change his habits and wants to buy cigarettes at a tobacco store and discuss with friends in a group. I managed to convince him of the risks and brought him home. For now, I am still worried - the disease has not reached its peak in Italy and mistakes were made last week when thousands of people from Lombardy flew to the south of the country. Now we need to wait another week to find out how many have been infected and stick firmly to the measures until the peak is reached. The same mistake was made in China, where the scale of the spread was not understood," clarified F. Cannavaro.
