Strategist Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that this summer he is ready to spend a solid sum of money to acquire new footballers.
During the winter transfer window, the leaders of the English Championship only acquired goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard from Denmark, but Ferguson admitted that other negotiations ended unsuccessfully. The Scot did not reveal who the candidate was or in what position he played.
“The billionaire owners have turned football upside down,” Ferguson said in the United Review. “We can’t sit back and do nothing. We have to take on the challenge.
“Competition is healthy and we do not give up. Maybe we did not acquire anything during the last transfer window, but that's because we did our homework beforehand and did not have to buy out of desperation.
“We were interested in one player and negotiated for him, but everything had to be postponed until summer.”
