"Manchester City" defender Fernandinho believes that his club has enough financial resources to acquire the two best footballers in the world, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
This summer, the "Citizens" spent over 200 million pounds sterling on new signings, including talented footballers like Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, and Ederson.
The Brazilian himself arrived from Donetsk's "Shakhtar" in 2013 for 34 million pounds, but he thinks that such sums are far from the limit for English clubs.
"Could we acquire Messi or Ronaldo? I think so, but first we need to consider the club's priorities. We have the financial resources, everyone knows that, but we should take into account the issue of priorities," Fernandinho told Goal.com.
"Are we aiming to acquire one player, or to build a strong, competitive team to achieve our goals? Sometimes people think that one player can fulfill all the needs of the club. Maybe it shouldn't be like that."
"City" has worked for many years to build a competitive team and compete for titles. Of course, the club made some significant and strong investments in top-level known players at the beginning, but the project itself is based on a strong team and the development of a top-level academy structure, allowing new players to flourish."
"City's" project is much more than the acquisition of a famous player, which would ultimately cost even more."
As one of the examples of this "City" project, Fernandinho mentioned the 20-year-old striker Gabriel Jesus, who joined the "Citizens" for 27 million pounds.
