After coaching the team, Italian strategist Francesco Guidolin decided to terminate his contract with the team competing in the French league and returned to his former team, which he led before moving to Monaco.
With the team from Palermo, the 50-year-old Italian coach signed a three-year contract. In the 2003/2004 season, F. Guidolin helped this team reach the Serie A championships in Italy, and in the following year's championship, the team finished 6th and earned the right to compete in the UEFA Cup.
Before becoming the head coach of Palermo, F. Guidolin also coached Vicenza, with whom he won the Italian Cup in the 1996/1997 season, among other teams.
At Palermo, F. Guidolin will replace Giuseppe Papadopulo, who became the head coach of the team only midway through the previous season, replacing Luigi Del Neri. Meanwhile, the new coach of Monaco's team is expected to be Laszlo Boloni, who has coached other teams.
