FIFA agreed with the Russians about broadcasting rights

FIFA and Russian television just a few days before the start of the Confederations Cup solved a serious problem, but left room for questions, wrote lrytas.lt

FIFA announced that they have reached an agreement with Russian broadcasters regarding television rights.

The contract means that state-owned "Perviy Kanal" and "Match TV" will broadcast the FIFA Confederations Cup matches.

This managed to avoid a huge embarrassment, because if an agreement had not been reached, host Russia would not have broadcast the matches to its residents. However, Russia and FIFA have another serious problem. There is currently no agreement on the broadcast rights for the 2018 World Cup matches.

Such last-minute negotiations for FIFA organization are very unusual. FIFA usually reaches agreements on rights a few years before tournaments
