The Lithuanian Football Federation received a letter on Tuesday from FIFA Stadium Safety Director Walter Gaagas, informing them of what was to be expected - international matches cannot be held at the "Žalgiris" stadium.

The letter states that the "Žalgiris" stadium is in very poor condition - it does not meet safety requirements, hygiene standards, lacks necessary infrastructure for organizing international matches.

The Lithuanian Football Federation is urged to inform by November 10th what measures will be taken to address this issue.

Meanwhile, LFF General Director Julius Kvedaras once again requested support from the government and stated that negotiations for a possible national team game abroad are underway, with a positive response already given by the Latvian Football Federation.

Playing in a neighboring country is only the last resort, as it is hoped that the authorities of Kaunas will improve the Darius and Girenas sports center stadium, or lighting will be installed at the Vilnius "Vėtra" stadium.
