FIFA President Gianni Infantino is working intensively so that football fans in the upcoming World Cup can enjoy football for as long as possible. It was previously calculated that the "net" playing time, for example in the UEFA Champions League, is approximately around 60% per match. FIFA does not intend to settle for this and, according to "Corriere dello Sport", has come up with an important innovation. According to the publication, it is planned to extend matches in Qatar by at least 10 minutes. However, G. Infantino's plans still need to be approved by the IFAB institution, which oversees football rules.
