The International Football Federation (FIFA) has revealed a list of 55 players, from which 11 will make it to the best team of the year.
Every year, the "FIFPro" team of the year is made up of a goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards.
Five players from each position are vying to become the best goalkeeper. 20 footballers are candidates to complement the four defenders. There are 15 midfielders and 15 forwards.
Several players who are not frequently seen in such awards have made it to the list of contenders: Dusan Tadic, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, and others.
The best team of players will be chosen by the players themselves - those who compete in both the smallest and largest league clubs.
The best players in their positions will be awarded at a ceremony in Milan on September 23rd.
