The International Football Federation Federacija (FIFA) allowed Ivory Coast national team member Didier Drogba to represent Istanbul's "Galatasaray" club in FIFA organized tournaments.

The 34-year-old forward moved to the Turkish club last month and was very warmly welcomed by local fans. However, Drogba's former club from China, Shanghai Shenhua, claimed that the player had signed a contract with them and could not represent another club.

On the other hand, Drogba's representatives stated that the player took advantage of a clause in the contract to leave the Chinese club if his salary was delayed.

Drogba arrived at the new club last week, and on Monday his health was checked. A contract with the player should be signed in the near future.

In January, "Galatasaray" club also lured Dutchman Wesley Sneijder from Milan's "Inter". The Turks will meet with Gelzenkirchen's "Schalke" team in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
