FIFA permanently disqualified former coach of the Greek national team

Former Greece national team coach Fernando Santos faced criticism after one of the World Cup matches.

The strategist from Portugal was fined by FIFA for criticizing the referees after the World Cup quarter-final match, in which the Greek national team lost to Costa Rica after a penalty shootout.

FIFA suspended the coach for eight matches. The penalty will take effect when F. Santos becomes a coach of any national team.

As foreign media speculates, this penalty could end the 59-year-old coach's career at the highest level. F. Santos, who coached the Greece national team since 2010, ended his contract with the Greeks after the World Cup.

F. Santos has previously coached teams such as PAOK Salonika, Lisbon's Benfica, AEK Athens, Panathinaikos, and Porto.
