FIFA plans to crack down on corruption by football agents

Soccer fans often wonder when they see the amounts of money involved in player transfer deals. A significant slice of the pie goes to football agents, among whom the most famous are Mino Raiola and Jorge Mendes. FIFA plans to put a stop to this shameless profiteering and set limits on the amounts that can go to athletes' representatives. Journalist Martynas Ziegler reports that one of the measures is when a footballer earns more than 200,000 U.S. dollars annually, agents are forbidden to work together with both the player and the club during the deal. This would mean huge losses for agents, who are already threatening to seek legal action.
