FIFA revealed that the work of player agents will be closely monitored, and clubs will also have to reduce the number of players sent to other clubs on loan basis.
The days when clubs could rent an unlimited number of players to other clubs and pay huge amounts of money to player agents seem to be a thing of the past. FIFA plans to take measures that will drastically reduce the number of rented players and limit the money clubs pay to agents.
FIFA will repeat the process of 2015, during which changes will be made to the agent licensing system. At the same time, the existing licenses will be verified, and licenses will be revoked from agents suspected of illegal activities.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino hinted that this will be a major first step in developing a new system that will include agents, player rentals, and other player transfer criteria.
The most money spent on agents is by English clubs. Between the summer of 2017 and the winter of 2018 transfer windows alone, English clubs spent 278 million euros. Meanwhile, European clubs spent 1.8 billion euros just in 2017.
