FIFA today made a final decision and announced that Madrid clubs will not be able to buy new players until January 2018 due to violating regulations.
FIFA released a statement last week stating that today the final decision regarding the Madrid clubs would be clarified. The wrath of the largest football community fell upon the finalists of the 2016 UEFA Champions League when it was revealed that they illegally acquired underage players.
According to FIFA, both clubs should have been suspended already in last summer's transfer window, but the appeals of both clubs were upheld in court, allowing them to buy new players this summer.
After the latest FIFA verdict, it became clear that "Real" and "Atletico" will not receive new players in January and summer of 2017.
Both clubs have the right to appeal FIFA's decision again.
