The International Football Federation (FIFA) has started to investigate the transfer of Eliaquim Mangala from "Porto" to "Manchester City" last year due to potential violations of third-party ownership rights.
The Frenchman arrived in England in August 2014, and the Portuguese team received 30.5 million euros for 56.67% of the rights to the defender.
In May, collective ownership rights of players were banned, but the private equity fund "Doyen Sports" had invested in Mangala at the time of the "Man City" transfer.
A FIFA representative confirmed to the press that FIFA had taken an interest in the situation of the French national team player.
Situations where a player belongs to more than one club were quite common in Portugal. The same "Doyen Sports" had acquired a part of the rights to Marcos Rojo, who currently defends the colors of "Manchester United" and previously represented Lisbon's "Sporting".
