FIFA wants to increase the number of allowed substitutions © JumpStory

Europe heavily affected by the coronavirus, seems to be slowly recovering and more and more leagues are starting to make plans for the resumption of matches. It is obvious that everyone wants to finish all championships as soon as possible, so teams may face a huge burden, and FIFA wants to ease the situation a bit. It is reported that they want to allow teams to make not three, but five substitutions during matches, with an additional one if extra time is played. However, all these substitutions should be used by coaches by making no more than three stoppages during the match. These proposals still need to be approved by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), which is responsible for the rules and their amendments. These changes could apply not only to this season, but until the end of 2021, which means that we may see an unusual number of substitutions even during the European Championship matches next summer.
