Today, a special press conference was held at the FIFA headquarters, where the head of the largest football community, Gianni Infantino, spoke about the use of the VAR system in the 2018 World Cup. The 2018 World Cup in Russia will start on June 18. One thing is still unclear - whether for the first time in the history of this tournament, the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) system will be used, or whether this idea will be abandoned. It should be noted that the VAR system has already been tested in several FIFA tournaments and has not received the best reviews. The biggest issue for the football community is not the system's errors, but the long waiting time for decisions to be made. In the press conference, G. Infantino stated that the final decision on the use of VAR in the world championships will be made on March 16. The FIFA president himself said that he views this system positively, so it is very likely that it will be used in Russia. VAR was used in last summer's FIFA Confederations Cup, which was won by the German national team.
