After the defeat in the 20th round of the Italian Serie A championship against the team "Roma", which was already the third in a row for a Florentine club with significant ambitions, on Monday fired head coach Sergio Buso and appointed legendary Dino Zoff in his place.

Sergio Buso, who was an assistant coach before this season, became the head coach after a poor start to the season led to the dismissal of Emiliano Mondonico from this position, but despite a great start, Buso's results worsened and it was decided to replace him.

It was believed that "Fiorentina" would appoint a coach who would work until the summer and then Cesare Prandelli would take over, but quite unexpectedly president Diego Della Valle decided to appoint Dino Zoff and signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with him today.

The 62-year-old Zoff, who had been unemployed since 2001, gained fame as a great goalkeeper during his playing career, and is considered one of the best of all time. He became a coach twice (in the 1996-97 and 2000-2001 seasons) at AS Roma's "Lazio" club, also coached Turin's Juventus team (from 1988 to 1990) and reached the final of the European Championships with the Italian national team in 2000.

D. Zoff should make his debut as the new team's strategist on the upcoming Wednesday when "Fiorentina" will again face "Roma", but this time in the Italian Cup tournament.
