Fired "Sochaux" Coach © EuroFootball.com

After finishing in just 15th place in the "Ligue 1" championship, the club announced on Tuesday that they have terminated the contract with Dominique Bijotat, who has been leading the team this season.

Last year, Bijotat took over the team from Guy Lacombe, who had left for "P.S.G." Under the guidance of Lacombe, "Sochaux" constantly hovered around the middle of "Ligue 1" and won the French League Cup in 2004.

However, under Bijotat's leadership, the team has been struggling since the beginning of the season and despite avoiding relegation to a lower division and managing to secure 15th place, such results did not satisfy the club's management, leading them to part ways with the French coach.

The most likely candidate to replace Bijotat as head coach at the moment is another Frenchman, former "Portsmouth" strategist Alain Perrin. In the meantime, during a friendly tournament in Guadeloupe, the main "Sochaux" team will be led by former assistants of Bijotat, Pierras Espanol and Aziz Bouras.
