For the first time in almost 40 years, women watched football in a stadium in Iran

Although yesterday the Iranian national team suffered a defeat of 0:1 against Spain, this match became historic for the women of this country.

For the first time since 1979, women from this country were allowed to attend the match at the "Tehran Azadi" stadium in Iran, where the match against Spain was shown live on the arena screens.

This ban was lifted because during the World Cup held in Moscow, Iranian residents protested against this ban and brought banners to the matches. However, there is fear that after the end of the World Cup, the Iranian government will reinstate the ban, and its removal was just a temporary measure to avoid greater international attention to this issue.

This historic event also garnered a reaction from the captain of the Spanish national team, Sergio Ramos, who stated that it was the women who were the winners of the day.

They are the ones who won tonight. Hopefully the first of many. https://t.co/ftnMwegZjz
