Surpassing this mark, C. Ronaldo became only the fourth athlete to become a billionaire in history. According to "Forbes", the Portuguese football star is the third athlete in history after golf legend Tiger Woods and boxer Floyd Mayweather to earn a billion while actively participating in professional sports. The billionaire club also includes the legendary Michael Jordan.

"Forbes" calculated that C. Ronaldo earned 650 million US dollars (575 million euros) since the beginning of his professional career in 2002. When his current contract with Turin's Juventus expires in 2022, the amount will reach 765 million US dollars (677 million euros). C. Ronaldo earns additional millions from advertising contracts. In 2016, the footballer signed a contract with "Nike", which is valid for his lifetime. He is paid 20 million US dollars (18 million euros) per year.

C. Ronaldo also has contracts with famous shampoo manufacturer "Clear", nutrition company "Herbalife", and pharmaceutical company "Abbott". Last month, "Forbes" announced that C. Ronaldo was the second highest-paid athlete in the world over the past year. He earned 105 million dollars (93 million euros). He was surpassed only by tennis legend Roger Federer, who earned 106.3 million US dollars.
