Forlan will still defend the honor of his country © EuroFootball.com

The striker Diego Forlan has resolved his differences with the head coach of the Uruguayan national team Jorge Fossati and will defend his country's honor by the end of this month.

The former "Man Utd" striker stepped down from the national team in October last year, citing the main reason for his decision as the coach not allowing him to play in the World Cup qualifying matches, despite him traveling a long way from Europe.

The national team coach confirmed his reconciliation with the player: "I called him on the phone, as it is best to resolve such issues personally. He assured me that he wants to play for the national team, and I told him that I will invite him to the next matches."

It is worth noting that last year, before the conflict with the coach, Forlan had a quarrel with his compatriot Paolo Montero in the locker room.

This season, Forlan is one of the top scorers in the Spanish league, scoring 17 goals in 23 matches.

The Uruguayan national team will play away against Chile on March 26, and four days later they will host the Brazilian footballers in Montevideo. In the South American World Cup qualifying group of 10 teams, Uruguay currently holds the fifth place. The first four teams in the group will directly qualify for the World Cup in Germany in 2006, while the team in fifth place will have to compete with the winners from the Oceania zone for a spot.
