Since becoming the captain of the team this season, the Swiss player found himself in a scandal over the weekend, responding to Arsenal fans' boos with a angry reaction.
"He is the Arsenal captain and such behavior is inexcusable. You can't think you are the most important in this club. His behavior was brutal and I simply can't see his future here," said the 57-year-old Scot on "Sky Sports" show.
"I will be very surprised if I ever see him wear the captain's armband again," added C. Nicholas.
"In one case he can be considered a player of the team, but we still cannot justify his behavior. The fact that he hasn't publicly apologized to the fans just shows that he feels immense anger.
I have no doubt that he is now in a terrible situation, but that anger must be controlled. Playing at this level means accepting criticism, because otherwise you simply cannot be a footballer.
Playing at the highest level, you cannot expect only compliments. Do you think Messi and Ronaldo were never criticized? Absolutely every player has experienced that," concluded C. Nicholas.
