Portuguese Deco, who spent the last three seasons at Fluminense club, publicly announced that he is saying goodbye to football forever and ending his career.

The main reason is not age, but an injury that has forced the former Portuguese national team player to miss many matches for some time.

"My muscles are not able to withstand such a workload. In terms of physical fitness, I could still play, but my muscles wouldn't handle it," Deco said at a press conference.

The 36-year-old midfielder has played for teams such as London's Chelsea, Barcelona, Salgueiros, and Porto.

Deco ended his national team career in 2010 and in seven years managed to play 75 matches and score 5 goals.

Throughout his football career, the midfielder played 552 matches and scored 95 goals.
