Former "Barcelona" president J.Nunez sat behind bars

The former president of "Barcelona" club Josep Lluis Nuñez will spend the next two years in prison.

Spanish television "Antena 3" aired footage showing the former leader of the Catalan team arriving by car at the "Quatre Camins" prison near Barcelona.

83-year-old J.L. Nuñez lost his freedom after the court rejected his final appeal, and on November 6, the judge ordered the man to come to prison and start serving his sentence.

In 2011, J.L. Nuñez was sentenced to 6 years for attempting to bribe a tax inspector. His first appeal was partially successful, reducing the prison sentence to 2 years. The second appeal was rejected.

J.L. Nuñez's crime is in no way related to the activities of "Barcelona".

The owner of a reputable construction company served as president of the Catalan team from 1978 to 2000. J.L. Nuñez is the longest-serving president in the club's history.
